Backhoe used in ATM raid

LAVERTON’S IGA Supermarket was closed on Monday due to structural damage, after a thief or thieves rammed its front wall ATM with a stolen backhoe on Sunday night.

Police believe the backhoe was stolen from a Laverton construction site and was used to ram the ATM.

The attempted theft failed, with no money stolen.
