STUDENTS, teachers and parents at Catholic Regional College St Albans became better acquainted at a Breaky and Books morning last week.
The aim of the morning was to foster a sense of community within the school and to give the students and parents a chance to meet with the teachers outside the classroom.
The school caters for students from around 40 ethnic backgrounds and in reflection of this, handed out invitations to the breakfast in three languages to try and reach as many families as possible.
More than 120 from the school community took part in the breakfast, prompting staff to consider running the event again.
Principal Christina Utri said the breakfast had been a great success.
“Catholic Regional College St Albans tries to create an environment where parents and students feel welcome,” she said. “This breakfast is one of our many community building strategies and was such a success we are considering making it a regular event.”
The breakfast comprised of toast, muffins, crumpets, croissants, pancakes and cereal with tea, coffee, orange juice and milo.
Newspapers were made available in Arabic, Chinese, English, Italian and Vietnamese.
