SCHOOLS across Brimbank and Melton Shire continue to be boosted with the latest Federal Government schools funding rolled out last week.

Federal Maribyrnong MP Bill Shorten announced last week St Albans Secondary College and Catholic Regional College, St Albans, would receive $1.97 million in funding for infrastructure under the Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools program.

The funding will see a new science centre built at one school and a language and learning centre at the other.

“It is wonderful to see our local schools and our local community benefit from the government’s huge investment in much needed new school buildings,” Mr Shorten said.

“Children at these schools will soon have modern facilities with leading edge technologies in their own dedicated learning spaces.

“Construction of these projects will commence quickly, which will provide work for tradespeople and small businesses in the area during these uncertain economic times.”

Kororoit MP Marlene Kairouz also announced last week building contacts had been awarded for $5 million worth of work to be conducted at Albanvale Primary School and Caroline Springs College.

Albanvale Primary School’s new $2 million library and classrooms and Caroline Springs College’s $3 million multi-purpose centre will begin construction within weeks following the contract signing last week.
