SIX Brimbank schools will share in almost $2 million funding announced by the State Government last week.

Grants were handed out to almost 50 non-government schools to help improve outdated facilities.

Sharing in the grants of between $250,000 and $350,000 were the Mother of God School, Ardeer; Marian College, Sunshine West; Catholic Regional College, St Albans; Holy Eucharist School, St Albans; St Peter’s School, Sunshine South West; and St Paul’s School, Sunshine West.

The money will be put toward the refurbishment of technology centres and classrooms, providing synthetic and artificial grass surfaces and towards water systems.

Education Minister Bronwyn Pike made the announcement last week as part of the government’s Needs-Based Capital Funding for Non-Government Schools initiative.

“Education is the State Government’s number one priority, and we are committed to providing every child with every opportunity to access the best possible education regardless of where they live,” Ms Pike said.
