BROOKLYN residents are hoping a trail dividing the community would soon have another access point.

The Federation Trail was built and maintained by VicRoads on a Melbourne Water easement.

It’s about 20 kilometres long and runs between Geelong Rd and Millers Rd.

Brooklyn Residents Action Group member Brian Long said the Brooklyn community would love an extra access point.

“Brooklyn is divided and the people from that side would love to be able to walk through the Federation trail and come over here,” he said.

Director of Works and Assets Phillip McDonald mentioned a planned extension of the trail to run from Millers Rd to Hyde Street in Spotswood.

“The council supports the extension which will increase the accessibility and usability of the trail,” Mr McDonald said.
