ANYONE wondering where the Wild Things are should take a look around Hobsons Bay.
Newport and Williamstown were both used as locations about two years ago to film the Warner Bros box office hit Where the Wild Things Are.
Spike Jonze’s adaption of the classic Maurice Sendak children’s story filmed over eight days in the municipality and over four months at Melbourne Centre City Studios and across 11 Victorian locations including Discovery Bay, Gembrook and Williamstown.
The film follows a mischievous young boy called Max, who creates his own magical world inhabited by wild creatures who crown him their ruler.
Minister for Innovation Gavin Jennings said Victoria managed to secure the deal ahead of Argentina, New Zealand, California and Hawaii thanks to its diverse range of locations.
Supervising location manager for Where the Wild Things Are Russell Boyd said they needed desert, snow, mountain tops, arid barren forest, clifftops, oceans and lakes locations for the imaginary tale.
