IN DELAHEY, female hearts are all a-flutter.

Local carpenter Daniel Zabieglik is pretty handy with a hammer, but he’s even luckier with ladies.

Although the 33-year-old has sworn off women, they clearly haven’t given him the flick.

The shy carpenter was last week shocked to learn that he’d been voted one of the hottest tradies in Victoria, especially since he had no idea he’d even been nominated.

Daniel was on a holiday in Indonesia when he received a call from internet dating site RSVP, telling him his entry had received a flurry of interest from female admirers.

“I was shocked,” Daniel said.

“I didn’t even know I had entered so I had no idea what they were talking about.”

While many men would be flattered to be told they were attractive, for Daniel the realisation was more than a little embarrassing.

“I’m a pretty shy person.

”I don’t tend to put myself out there so I’m pretty embarrassed about it.

“I don’t know who nominated me but when I do find out I’m going to kill them.”

Since the results were announced, Daniel says he’s copped more than his share of ribbing from his workmates but still manages to hold his head up high.

“I don’t feel like I’m anything special but I guess it’s flattering when people think you’re attractive,” he said.

“I don’t know why women seem to like tradies, maybe it’s because we’re hard-working.”

Despite his success in the looks department, Daniel insists he’s no Cassanova.

“I’d kind of given up on women.

“But maybe I should reconsider.”

Daniel will compete against four other men in the state finals tonight.

The winner will head to Sydney later this month in the hopes of being crowned the hottest tradie in Australia.
